Steve Augeri
Steve Augeri singer with Journey 1998 - 2006

Steve Augeri was born on January 30, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York. He started his music career in elementary school singing solo for a school assembly. At the age of 15 he was in the front row of a Humble Pie concert and after watching Steve Marriott knew that singing in front of an audience is what he wanted to do the rest of his life.
For a short time he toured with the Michael Schenker Group, singing hard rock. Later on he began working with a group called Maestro. Over a period of time, each member of Maestro was replaced by the members that now formed Tall Stories. With Steve as lead vocalist, Tall Stories signed to Epic records, and released their very first album in 1991. An excellent album in its own right, but one thing held this album back. After being postponed, its release date coincided with Pearl Jam's release.
The music industry felt the sound they were performing, was basically over. The band sounded too much like Journey and Steve sounded too much like Perry. So, after trying different styles of music, which didn't seem to fit the band, and with all the negative responses from record labels, Tall Stories departed ways. It was shortly after Tall Stories Steve joined Tyketto, replacing lead vocalist Danny Vaughn. Tyketto released the album "Shine," with Steve as lead vocalist, and toured in Europe a couple of times. Eventually, Steve and Tyketto went their separate ways, and it looked as though his dreams of performing had gone.
Giving up on his music aspirations, he took a job in construction, and eventually became maintenance manager of 30 Gap stores in Manhattan.
Steve had all but given up hope of singing professionally and was still working at The Gap when Neal Schon called him. Neal had heard Steve sing on the Tall Stories CD and invited him to California for an audition. Steve's first recording with Journey was "Remember Me" from the Armageddon soundtrack. Steve is also an accomplished guitar player.
Steve and Journey parted company in December 2006 he is currently working on a CD of unreleased work recorded while he was with Tall Stories. He is also writing and recording a solo album.
